BEFORE + AFTER DESIGN STUDIO

As promised here are very amateur photos of my new studio. I didn't promise Amateur. That's just what you get. Awhile back I told you the story of needing to continuously find new areas of the house as Paula Prass Designs and Mimi's Collection grows. We didn't even make it all fluffed and polished. There's still so much I want to do, but I think those projects will show up in future blogs.

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS:

My huge inspiration board! My Mini McGyver husband (anyone remember that show where McGyver could make anything with gum and a string? Okay, that's my husband). I imagine it and he brings it into being.
.
Galvanized bins over washer and dryer! More inspiration will soon stick there as well.

Lots of storage boxes everywhere! The green containers up above the sink cabinets have tags that are actually discontinued Formica chips. I slapped some paint on them and decoupaged magazine letters to describe the contents. Fun, huh?

The half finished paintings I started of my kids when they were little. They've been in the storage room for years. My husband hung them. Now I really want to finish them. Who wants to stare at unfinished projects. We even still have the original photos attached, so no excuses. We'll see.

My Country Living canvas bag. I got it a couple years ago at the Country Living Women Entrepreneurs Event and I use it for everything. From the Farmer's Market to Design jobs.

Future possibilities to use my upcoming Flights of Fancy fabrics. My husband took a shot looking in the window. Not much privacy...calling out for some cute curtain, don't you think?

BEFORE OR AFTER? I don't keep the door closed anymore.

So, there you go. What do you think?

I bet you can't wait to get in there each day! I love how you laid out the carpet tile where it looks plaid versus the expected checkerboard.....

  6. I had to do a double take! That is absolutely gorgeous! My sewing space consists of 2 tables and blah walls and I'm feeling inspired to spruce it up, but I have to tackle those moving boxes first. I love the floors and all the storage space you have there. That outside shot looking in is fantastic-thanks for sharing!

Oh! And great find on your dining room piece for $100! I can't believe it! I love deals like that-I guess your 2 hour trip was meant to be!

  7. So gorgeous! i particularly love the gigantic metal design board and the labels on the bins. Are those just cut out from magazines? No, they're too color coordinated...I'm sure you printed them out on the computer or something.

Anyway, very inspiring. I really should do something about my studio...

May I ask where you got those magazine files? They are exactly what I am looking for, since they have a handle/pull and a label, plus they look nice and wide.

  26. I love the room! I was wondering how your wizard husband made the inspiration board. Is it just a custom-cut metal sheet? I want one for myself!

Please, please tell me what you did to your floor. Is it paint? A rug?
We have pulled up the carpet and need to pull up the vinyl flooring and are stymied as to where to go from here and spending next to nothing doing it!

  38. Just gorgeous, Paula! I, too, would love to know the name and brand of the paint. I recently painted my craft room a lime green and I'm thinking it's TOO lime, your color looks exactly what I was hoping for, at least on my monitor.

I like your style and sense of decorating, I'll be visiting your blog and other sites a lot. Can't wait to run into your fabric line, too!

Thanks for any info you can provide.

  41. As I read the comments I see that many people are asking about products that were used in the makeover...if you click on the Show + Tell link at the top of the page it will take you to the blog...and if you read down the blog to past posts you'll see the items listed...hopes this helps!!!

  43. This is incredible! I love all the little details! What is the name of that paint color? I have been looking for that color for my daughters room. Thanks!

  44. You have just completely inspired me to do this to my laundry room!! It is laid out exactly like yours - and I have the HE washer and dryer on one side - a large window and currently shelves of JUNK on the right side- I'm going to get rid of the shelves on the right and my DH will build me a desk and put in additional cabinets above my washer and I'll be set! My own studio!! Whoo-hoo. We are in the middle of a whole house remodel so it's perfect timing! Thanks for the inspiration!
