FLIGHTS OF FANCY GIVE-AWAY

I trust those of us celebrating Thanksgiving had something to be hugely thankful for this year. My heart is full, as well as a few other parts.

Now that all the dishes are cleaned and put away, leftovers are stacked in the fridge and my TV says everyone else is out shopping today, I think it's a perfect time to sit down with my blog friends and tell you how thankful I am. Proof? I want to have a giveaway. Sew Mama Sew is hosting a Give-Away on December 3 and I'm jumping in on the fun. Check it out here.

I am giving a set of four (4) fat quarters from my Flights of Fancy in the Ocean colorway and a set of 8 matching notecards. Between now and December 3rd @ 10:00 pm Eastern time, just leave a post about what project/gift you envision making with these Flights of Fancy fabrics. I will look for creativity and post a winner by 10:30 PM that eve. Keep in mind that these fabrics are hot off the press so you might have to do a bit of impressing. Seriously, I am so pleased to be a part of this Give-Away and just want to hear from everyone. Since I have many emails and requests outside the states, I welcome anyone outside the US to participate. Here's a quick shot of what can be yours very soon!
1

With that said, I know that JCaroline Creative and Tennessee Quilts (thanks Shari) both have the full line of FoF in stock. I would so appreciate any other sightings since I keep getting requests.

Before I head off to the fridge to pull out the leftovers, I want to thank everyone for the Tooth Fairy education. I absolutely love the silver dollar or unusual coin aspect. I have yet to share my own childhood, but suffice it to say; no tooth fairy, no Easter bunny and hardly a Santa in sight. I am truly curious. I think my own kids somehow worked the system, and I still don't know the rules. Whaat?

  1. So this would absolutely be the perfect solution for my "I-know-I-want-to-make-some-pillows-for-my-mother-in-law-but-dont-know-what-kind-of-fabric" problem. This is definitely her and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to tell her that the designer is a local! (We live on the southside!!) I know I want to make some sort of set of pillows with a large quilt block and I was waiting for some fabric to inspire me, and may I say, Ms. Prass - you inspire me!

  2. This is such a beautiful collection! I really love these colors--all my favorites! So happy to have stumbled onto your blog a few days ago.

I would really love to make myself a little purse made of the brown butterfly fabric and lined with the stripe and little matching striped coin purse with a bird, butterfly or flower appliqued on the front. It would be so cute! With the fabulous birdie fabric and circle print I would make myself a little planner/ notebook cover/ stationary set and store the notecards in it. Actually -- I should make two -- one as a gift and the other for myself because I couldn't part with the one and only.

  3. Oooh, first! As a quilter, of course I'd make a quilt - and here's the design: http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q302/shadowcocoa/fofdesign.jpg
It uses about a FQ of each of the 4 prints, plus a few other coordinates from the Flights of Fancy range, and a snowy white. It uses one of my favourite design techniques; repeating a block and colouring it to create a new design where the original block is almost indistinguishable.

  4. This is so exciting! You already know how much I love your fabric and to have a chance to win some is fantastic.

I am certain that your fabrics will look fabulous made up as a bag, and what scraps (don't waste any, you know) will be used for appliques. I might even attempt and I spy doll quilt with the fabric. Oh the possibilities are endless Paula!

  5. I am loving everything about this fabric collection -- birds, travelliing, and the color palette! I was led to your blog from www.fatquartershop.com.

From the fat quarters I would make a baby travelling changing station -- my 7 year old daughter suggested I make this for her doll. We must then take a trip somewhere sunny and warm to get away from the wintry weather here in the northeast. Of course we could then send the notecards to our friends and family to share some of our sunny adventures with them!

So even though our travels are all make-believe, that is what I am thinking of while I am looking at your fabric collection! Thanks!

    Linda :-)

  6. I absolutely love your flights of fancy! It is beautiful. I think I would make a bag/purse with it. I would be making up my own design for the purse and then with the extra I would work it into a quilt or maybe a small soft toy for a child. Or maybe I will come up with something totally different to make with it. I love making up my own patterns, so the possibilities are endless.

  7. First - thanks for visiting my blog - what a treat when I saw that *THE* Paula Prass had left me a comment! :) Second - this color line would be PERFECT for a project I've been wanting to take on. I want to make a fabric stair-step basket. You know how they have those rattan baskets that fit at the bottom (or top, I suppose) of the stairs, and you can put stuff in them that needs to go back upstairs? I have a never-ending pile at the bottom of my stairs of baby things, toys, etc., that need to go back up. But I don't want rattan - I want fabric. I haven't found a pattern - so I think I'm going to have to invent one myself. And your fabric goes with my paint colors perfectly!!! It might have to wait until after Christmas, though...:).

  8. Dot and birds, green and blue. Some of my very favorites. Gorgeous fabric! I have that very green along with the brown in my kitchen so I'm thinking a great wallhanging. We redid our kitchen about 2 years ago in the greens and browns. I have the perfect empty space on my wall that has been needing something for about 2 years. Something with your fabric would be just perfect.

  9. Hi Paula,
Thanks so much for stoping by my blog!
Beautiful fabrics! I've been wanting that bird and circle fabric since I first saw it. So nice of you to offer them in a giveaway!
I envision making a brown linen skirt (I'm on a skirt kick, right now). With a patchwork of the 3 smaller prints as a border near the hem, and using the bird print for an applique at the hip. :)

  10. Well, the first thing that popped into my head is a recipe card holder. I just saw the blog post on Anna Maria Horner's blog with a little quick tutorial on making one using only 2 fat quarters. I was excited about the thought because I never know what to do with fat quarters. I would love to make a recipe card holder-one for me and one for my friend who just came out of surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in her thyroid. She loves to cook and this would be a great gift for her. Anyways, whether I win or not, I am going to make one, but using the FoF fabric would be so adorable. I would prop that little recipe holder on my kitchen counter in front of my red Kitchenaid Mixer just to be inspired to cook and to sew seeing that gorgeous fabric.

I am going to get the fabric soon once it hits Fabritopia. Thanks a million for all your swewet comments on my blog-it always makes me smile. :)

  13. Oh they are all so pretty! I would make the oven mitts out of Denyse Schmidts Book and edge some kitchen towels to match. I am in desperate need of new oven mitts and those gorgeous fabrics would look great in my kitchen. The tooth fairy should be visiting any day here so I have one of those new dollar coins squirelled away for it. It is her first big front tooth to fall out and those always make me a little sad- they are growing up too fast!

  14. I would make a mobile for my upcoming little niece or nephew. I would take the fabric with a bird on it and cut squares and circles around the birds. Use the other fabric for the back and sew them together with batting in between to make it nice and soft to the touch! Then I could use the remainder in a matching receiving blanket or as quilt squares.

  18. HI PAULA!
I ESPECIALLY LOVE THE PAR AVION IN THIS COLLECTION. I HAVE RECENTLY DEVELOPED AN OBSESSION WITH JAPANESE SEWING PATTERNS. THEY ARE SO SIMPLE AND ELEGANT. MOST OF THE BOOKS ARE IN JAPANESE BUT FORTUNATELY(FOR ME)THE PICTURES AND DIAGRAMS ARE SO GOOD THAT WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AREN'T NECESSARY. WITH THESE 4 FAT QUARTERS I WOULD MAKE A FANTASTIC PATCHWORK SHRUG! THE PAR AVION WOULD MAKE UP THE CENTER BACK WITH TWO DIFFERENT PATTERNS FOR THE SLEEVES (THE DOT AND STRIPE). I WILL USE THE PAPILLION FOR A RUFFLE AT THE NECK. I MADE THIS SHRUG FOR A HOLIDAY PARTY OUT OF A RECYCLED CHOCOLATE SILK VELVET DRESS AND IT IS FABULOUS! I THINK I NEED A BUNCH OF THEM AND THE FLIGHTS OF FANCY PATTERNS WOULD MAKE SUCH A FUN FUNKY ONE PERFECT FOR THROWING OVER A T-SHIRT!! LESLEY

  19. Congratulations, this is such a beautiful and fun line of fabric!
I would love to use it for my hot/cold therapy rice packs I'm planning on making for Christmas presents. I've also been exploring the book Fabric Scrapbooking by Donna Downey. I'd love to use your fabric to make some of the projects in the book, especially the embroidery hoop photo frames.
Love the colors, love the birds especially : )

  20. My best friend is having her first baby in April, and I'm helping her decorate the nursery. I think the ocean line would be perfect to make the crib bumper & accessories, like a diaper stacker & lamp shade. And the spring & summer collection is calling my name to make my little girl a fun warm-weather skirt, and a matching top for me! And I always find something useful for cute scraps - coffee cozies for friends, keychains for teacher gifts, yo-yo hair bows for little girls...I could go on for days here!

  21. humm maybe I would make a cute stuffie bird itself since I seem to be into making stuffies these days, especially for my newborn nephew!

  23. It is as if you designed these fabrics for my daughters house! The colors and birds remind me of her house. What fun we could have making something adorable for her new home! I am thinking pillows for her couch! Your fabric truly inspire me!

  25. My sister is a Francophile, and I was planning to make her some home decor accessories for her new house for Christmas. I would use these gorgeous little bits to create some pillows for her sofa and matching drink coasters. I have some vintage pom-pom fringe I just found at a thrift store that would match perfectly to add some playfulness to your fabrics. So cute!!

  26. I would use the Air mail- print to make this
http://www.monkey-bus.co.il/Product.aspx?CategoryID=2&SubCategoryID=20&ProductID=167. I cannot tell you how many times I have paid penalty for late payments just because I haven't had a proper place to store my bills as I receive them.
Then the rest of the fabrics would become fabric wall art. I cannot remember where I saw it first, probably at whipup.net, but basically you cut forms from fabric and then paste them onto walls with cornstarch emulsion. Should I ever get bore with them I can just peel them off, wash them and re-use. Whatever remnants I'd have at this point, I would just save to use at Craft Swap- projects.
The note cards I would also use for my Swap- packages to tell my partners about me and my thought process.

Hopefully you find my ideas creative and useful and pick me as a winner. Greetings from Finland!
