CONCEPTION TO REALITY

Fall Quilt Market is right around the corner and, believe it or not, I just finally received the remainder of my Botanika Collection. Sigh. Due to a snafu, several of my fabrics sat in Indiana until this last Friday. It's hard to believe that I submitted my artwork for Botanika way back in August of 2010, and after a long separation, am now finally enjoying the full collection together in one place...my studio. As I stare at Garden Border and Wink Wink I am reminded of when the idea for these designs came about. I spent a couple weeks in San Diego (before we knew we'd end up living here). I started painting Garden Border and Mille Fleur from actual flowers from Balboa Gardens and worked on Wink Wink in the hotel room. A way too long process has finally come full circle. So, while my friends are preparing their newest fabrics for market, I am a full step behind.

BEGINNING OF WINK WINK

WINK WINK PROGRESS

WINK WINK COMPLETE

So how about you celebrate with me?  Leave a comment about which colorway you like the best and you will be entered to win a yard of your choice.  I'll announce the winner next Monday.

Now I'm on my way now to get three wisdom teeth pulled.  I tried to convince the dentist that I needed every tooth I have left, but he disagrees.   Wish me a very speedy recovery.  xo

  1. The green silohette! I may have to find a way to incorporate that into my next room project! Just saw Paula Prass pic frames in a local gift shop in Evansville, The Red Poppy!of course I had to buy to go in Ansley's room for Summer Soire!

  2. Wow! Just that little bit you showed looks like a scary amount of work! I love the meadow colorway. I'm a sucker for intense color. It's all so beautiful!

I hope the wisdom teeth just pop out, ensuring a quick recovery. I held onto mine until a couple of years ago. So glad they're finally gone!

  10. Those are so beautiful-I thinkthe green is my favorite.
Good luck with the wisdom teeth. I only had 2 & I had to have them pulled one at a time within 3 months of the birth of each of my 2 children. I've always wondered if it was a result or a random coincidence

  13. I wish you well with your wisdom teeth. My 3 year old is recovering from having her tonsils removed, so we know how slow the process can be. I'm loving that green print. This print is gorgeous!

  19. I love them all but the green is my favorite. And I had my wisdom teeth out in this decade of life too! Blessings with quick healing and a sped-up process for the Quilt Show. You know what they say: Necessity is the mother of invention. May being a step behind put you a step ahead!

Your work is gorgeous! I really admire your patience. It must be quite the process...all this fabric creation business. We are lucky to have your art! Best of luck with your wisdom teeth...and have a blast at market!!

  26. By now you must be a couple of teeth lighter but no less "wiser". I have to say I love the green and already have it is made up with two of your other prints. Thank you for sharing with everyone the amount of work that goes into designing a print ( and this was just a one color). Everyone loves to see the process. Your prints have much more personality because you draw them by hand first. Computer generated prints always seem lacking.
I love all the prints from your Botanika collection.

  27. Probably no one else feels this way, but I like a moderate pace of fabric releases. I'm still using up my "older" favorites. I just bought my first piece of Botanika last week and am in love with it. My favorite colorway is that brown and aqua one...would make great pillows for my brand new couch! (wink, wink!)

  29. Way to hard to pick, but I guess the Pastille colorway, since I just ordered some of it from Hawthorne Threads! Recover quickly from your wisdom teeth, I had my 3 removed years ago, and remember being in ecstasy when I was all drugged up! HAHA

  33. BLUE, BLUE, BLUE I love blue. I had my wisdom teeth out late, it was a lot less painful then everyone told me it would be, but then I believe that has to be because I had a good dentist.

  34. Best luck with your wisdom teeth for a easy healing and minimal discomfort. I am happy that you finally got the entire range. I fell for Botanika the first time I saw it online, but in person----Wow. Gorgeous. I would love to combine the brown Wink on a pillow with the Wing Study that I am embroidering on! (after I get past just looking at it and petting it!)
    Thanks so much!
